notes:
Song-A-Day 2013 yielded some amazing music and some of it was purely
electronic and instrumental. I wrote an electronic piece for Jupiter 8 called
"Carousel", inspired by the carousel in Logan's Run.
February 22nd was designated our "cover" day where we could cover
somebody's song.
Derek Greenberg covered my instrumental by writing his own lyric to my
electronic soundtrack and replacing it with acoustic guitar.
I later decided I liked his interpretation of the song from the standpoint of an
asteroid as it's revolving around the sun akin to a carousel.
I resung his vocal using Reaktor The Mouth to reintegrate it into the original
electronic version.
I hope you like it, Derek, because I'd like to use it for my next Colfax record,
"The Jupiter Expeditions".
Carousel
I'm an asteroid
I have a tale to tell
I spin around and around
Just like a carousel
I'm in the Kuiper Belt
Orbiting the Sun
How long have I been here?
A billion years, plus one
And from deep down below
I feel some gravity
Pull me toward the Earth
At long last I am free
I build tremendous speed
As fast as I can go
I'm going to slam into you
So look out below!
I'm an asteroid
I have a tale to tell
I spin around and around
Just like a carousel
